The Salmistraro collection conquers the Bologna fair
FLAMINIA WINS THE ADI CERAMICS & BATHROOM AWARD 2021 FOR SPIRE, THE WASHBASIN DESIGNED BY ELENA SALMISTRARO
The Spire washbasin awarded at Cersaie 2021

At Cersaie, Flaminia is awarded the Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2021 for Spire, the new washbasin designed by Elena Salmistraro. The aim of the award bestowed by ADI (the Industrial Design Association), now in its seventh edition, is to valorise Italy’s most innovative products in the ceramics and bathroom furniture sectors.

The company, which has always made research its top priority, investing in young designers and winning recognition for its original products, presented its new project at the international trade fair in Bologna

Having acquired extensive experience working with artistic and handcrafted ceramics, Elena Salmistraro tried her hand at fashioning industrialised products made of this material and designed Spire: a collection of countertop washbasins, in one and two-colour versions, characterised by soft and sinuous forms that call to mind a natural element like a shell. The sculptural quality of Spire underscores the use and the beauty of the ceramic. Wide, varying size edges set apart this project, which appears different depending on the onlooker's point of view.  Notwithstanding the strong stylistic imprint of Elena Salmistraro, a designer regarded as a unicum on account of her fantastic, surreal, highly creative language, Spire washbasins may be readily combined with ceramic sanitary ware from other Flaminia collections, and will fit perfectly in any context.

The prize winning products are preselected for the 2022 edition of the “ADI Design Index”, the annual publication that collects Italy’s best design creations in the different commodity groups, selected by the permanent Design Observatory of the association in preparation for the next edition of the Compasso d’Oro ADI, the most prestigious Italian design award.
